Overview

This is an investigational combination therapy consisting of **filanesib** (also known as ARRY-520), a selective small molecule inhibitor of **kinesin spindle protein (KSP/KIF11)**, and **filgrastim**, a recombinant granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF). Filanesib induces mitotic arrest and apoptosis by inhibiting KSP, essential for separating spindle poles during mitosis, and is being studied for its ability to induce cell death in rapidly dividing cancer cells[1][2][3][5][6][7]. Filgrastim is included to mitigate neutropenia induced by filanesib, supporting neutrophil recovery during therapy[4]. This combination is primarily under investigation for use in **relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma**, with additional studies in acute myeloid leukemia, leveraging the hematologic support from filgrastim to enable higher or more frequent dosing of filanesib[4].
