Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ART010 is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Arana Therapeutics for the treatment of osteoporosis and bone cancer. It was engineered using proprietary directed evolution technology to target the Receptor Activator of Nuclear Factor kappa-B Ligand (RANKL) with high affinity. RANKL is a key cytokine that promotes the formation and activity of osteoclasts; by inhibiting RANKL, ART010 prevents bone resorption and the associated loss of bone density. The drug was part of Arana's pipeline following the merger of Peptech and EvoGenix and was positioned as a potential competitor to denosumab. After Cephalon acquired Arana in 2009, the development of ART010 was discontinued.
