Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ART1 is an investigational small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapy developed by Arnatar Therapeutics for the treatment of hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Built on the proprietary DARGER™ platform, ART1 is designed to silence the expression of the *AGT* gene, which encodes angiotensinogen. Angiotensinogen is the sole precursor of all angiotensin peptides in the renin-angiotensin system (RAS), a critical pathway for blood pressure regulation. By mediating RNA interference to downregulate AGT mRNA, ART1 reduces hepatic production of angiotensinogen, thereby providing a sustained lowering of blood pressure. The drug is currently in Phase 1 clinical development.
