Artcure

Artcure (ARTCURE®) is a transdermal diffusional patch developed by Metuas Medical Company for the treatment of intervertebral disc herniation. It is classified as a medical device with a mechanical mode of action rather than a pharmaceutical drug. The patch contains a proprietary anhydrous mixture of herbal oils, including Nigella sativa, oregano, laurel, and chamomile, held within a microfiber porous sheath. Its mechanism of action is mechanical and osmotic: the fatty molecules in the patch penetrate the herniated disc section (which has increased permeability), reducing osmotic pressure within the herniated nucleus pulposus and causing the disc to expel water. This reduction in mass relieves pressure on adjacent nerve roots and the spinal cord, providing a non-invasive alternative or adjunct to surgery for patients with cervical, lumbar, or thoracic disc herniation and associated low back or neck pain.
