Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Artelac Complete MDO is a multi-dose, preservative-free ophthalmic solution developed by Dr. Gerhard Mann (a Bausch & Lomb company) for the treatment of moderate to severe dry eye disease. It is formulated as a triple-action lubricant that addresses all three layers of the natural tear film: the lipid layer (via a lipid component to reduce evaporation), the aqueous layer (via 0.24% hyaluronic acid and glycerin to bind moisture), and the mucin-like layer (via carbomer to retain water on the ocular surface). The product is delivered through a specialized multi-dose pump (MDO) system that ensures sterility for up to six months after opening without the need for preservatives.
