Overview
Artelac Rebalance (also known as Artelak Balance in certain regional markets) is a hypotonic ophthalmic solution developed by Bausch & Lomb for the management of mild to moderate dry eye disease. The formulation is a multi-component tear substitute containing 0.15% high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid, which acts as a mucomimetic lubricant, and 0.5% polyethylene glycol 8000 (Viscoelactor™) to enhance the retention and distribution of the drops on the ocular surface. Additionally, the product contains essential electrolytes (potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, and chloride) to support corneal epithelial health and Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin), which provides antioxidant protection and trophic support for corneal nerves. It utilizes the Oxyd™ preservative system, which is designed to dissipate into water and oxygen upon contact with the ocular surface, minimizing preservative-induced irritation.
