Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Artemetin is a naturally occurring flavonoid compound found in various plant species. It is not an approved pharmaceutical drug but has been studied for its potential biological activities, including anti-inflammatory and anticancer effects. Artemetin exhibits excellent oral bioavailability and drug-likeness values, and research suggests it can inhibit the proliferation of certain cancer cells (such as human gastric carcinoma) by inducing apoptosis through increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and mitochondrial dysfunction. Its mechanism of action appears to involve modulation of oxidative stress pathways, leading to cell death in tumor cells[5]. Artemetin is considered a dietary flavonoid rather than a conventional pharmaceutical agent.
