Artemis Project breast cancer vaccine

The Artemis Project breast cancer vaccine is a multi-antigen preventive vaccine candidate developed by the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC) in collaboration with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) PREVENT Program. Designed for primary prevention, the vaccine targets six specific self-antigens that are frequently overexpressed in breast cancer cells. The strategy involves priming the immune system to recognize and eliminate early-stage transformed cells before they progress to invasive cancer. The project is a key outcome of the Artemis Project, an advocate-led research consortium established to foster transformative solutions for breast cancer prevention. As of early 2026, the vaccine is transitioning into clinical development, with a Phase I trial scheduled to commence by mid-2026.
