Overview
Artemisia annua allergen extract is a pharmaceutical product derived from the pollen of *Artemisia annua* (sweet wormwood or mugwort), primarily utilized in allergen immunotherapy (AIT) for the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis (SAR) caused by *Artemisia annua* pollen. The extract contains key allergenic components such as Art an1 and Art an3. Its mechanism of action involves immunomodulation, aiming to induce immune tolerance to the allergen. This is achieved by decreasing the population of Th2 cells and increasing the number of regulatory T cells (nTreg and Tr1 cells), thereby mitigating the allergic inflammatory response. Developed and manufactured by Zhejiang Wolwo Bio-Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., this extract is typically administered via sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT).
