It is used in skin prick testing, a common diagnostic procedure for allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis. When applied percutaneously, the solution introduces pollen allergens into the skin; in individuals with specific IgE antibodies to these allergens, the extract cross-links IgE on the surface of mast cells, triggering degranulation and the release of inflammatory mediators. This results in a localized wheal-and-flare reaction, the size of which indicates the degree of sensitization. The product has been evaluated in Phase III clinical trials in China (e.g., CTR20200810) to establish its safety and diagnostic performance (sensitivity and specificity) alongside other common allergen extracts.
