Overview

Artemisia eriantha extract is a botanical extract derived from the *Artemisia eriantha* plant, a subendemic species native to the Central Apennines of Italy. Traditionally used in folk medicine for its antibacterial, antifungal, anthelmintic, and antispasmodic properties, the extract is currently under investigation in preclinical in vitro studies for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The extract contains a complex mixture of monoterpenes (e.g., sabinene, thujones) and sesquiterpenes (e.g., β-caryophyllene). Its mechanism of action involves the dysregulation of cell cycle regulatory proteins, including cyclin D1, cyclin E, and p27, and the activation of the p53-p21 apoptotic pathway, which collectively inhibit cancer cell proliferation and migration.
