Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Artemisia herb 95% ethanol soft extract is a botanical pharmaceutical product developed by Chong Kun Dang Pharmaceutical (as a generic version of the original Stillen) for the treatment of acute and chronic gastritis. Derived from the leaves of *Artemisia argyi* (or *Artemisia asiatica*), the extract is standardized to contain active flavonoids such as eupatilin and jaceosidin. It functions as a gastric mucosal protective agent by stimulating the synthesis of endogenous prostaglandins (specifically PGE2) and increasing gastric mucus secretion. Additionally, it exhibits antioxidant properties by scavenging reactive oxygen species and anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting inflammatory mediators like 5-lipoxygenase. In clinical practice, it is used to treat gastric mucosal lesions such as erosion, hemorrhage, and edema associated with gastritis. In the context of Chong Kun Dang's clinical development, it has served as an active comparator in Phase 3 trials for newer gastritis therapies like CKD-495 (G-Tec).
