Overview

Artemisia pollen allergen extract is a form of allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT) used to treat allergic rhinitis and/or conjunctivitis caused by sensitization to pollen from plants of the Artemisia genus (e.g., mugwort). [5, 16] The therapy works by administering controlled doses of the allergen extract to the patient, typically via sublingual or subcutaneous routes, to desensitize the immune system. [14, 24] This process aims to induce immunological tolerance, thereby reducing the severity of allergic symptoms upon natural exposure to the pollen. Clinical trials have demonstrated its efficacy and safety in both adult and pediatric populations. [2, 4, 7]
