Overview
Artemisiae argyi water extract is a botanical research compound derived from the above-ground parts of *Artemisia argyi* (Chinese mugwort), a traditional East Asian medicinal herb. Prepared via hot water extraction, it has been studied primarily for its potential in treating obesity and associated metabolic disorders. In animal models, the extract has demonstrated the ability to reduce body weight and fat accumulation by upregulating fatty acid oxidation-related genes and increasing the expression of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and glycolysis-related genes. It also ameliorates hepatic steatosis by inhibiting lipogenesis through the reduction of fatty acid synthase and phosphatidic acid phosphatase activities. Furthermore, the extract exhibits anti-inflammatory properties by downregulating pathways involving p38 MAPK, PI3K, and various inflammatory markers like CCL5 and MMP9.
