Artequick

Artequick is an oral fixed-dose artemisinin-based combination therapy for malaria that combines the fast-acting endoperoxide antimalarial artemisinin with the long half-life bisquinoline piperaquine, and in some earlier formulations also includes low-dose primaquine to clear mature Plasmodium falciparum gametocytes.[1][3][5][12] Developed by the Chinese company Artepharm, Artequick is used primarily for acute uncomplicated falciparum malaria, including multidrug-resistant strains, and has been deployed in large-scale elimination programs such as in the Comoros, where repeated mass drug administration campaigns produced marked reductions in malaria incidence.[1][2][5][7][12][16] Artemisinin rapidly reduces parasite biomass, while piperaquine provides sustained schizonticidal activity and post-treatment prophylaxis, and primaquine (where included) adds gametocytocidal activity, yielding a short-course, highly efficacious regimen with generally good tolerability in clinical trials.[1][5][12][16]
