artesunate + amodiaquine + methylene blue

A triple combination antimalarial therapy that combines the artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT) artesunate-amodiaquine with methylene blue. This combination has shown enhanced efficacy against both asexual blood stages and gametocytes of *Plasmodium falciparum*, including artemisinin-resistant strains. Methylene blue significantly enhances the blood schizontocidal activity of artesunate-amodiaquine and provides potent gametocytocidal effects, which could help reduce malaria transmission. The typical dosing regimen used in clinical studies includes artesunate at 4 mg/kg/day, amodiaquine at 10 mg/kg/day, and methylene blue at 15-20 mg/kg/day, all administered for 3 days.
