Overview

Artgen PD-L1 nanobody is an experimental therapeutic consisting of a single-domain antibody (nanobody) fragment that targets Programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1). Developed by Artgen (formerly known as Human Stem Cells Institute or HSCI), the drug is designed to block the interaction between PD-L1 and the PD-1 receptor, thereby modulating immune responses. While PD-L1 inhibitors are traditionally utilized as checkpoint inhibitors in oncology to enhance anti-tumor immunity, Artgen is uniquely investigating this candidate for cardiovascular diseases (CVD), specifically to address inflammatory processes in atherosclerosis. The nanobody modality offers potential advantages in terms of stability and tissue penetration over traditional monoclonal antibodies. The project is currently in the early stages of development.
