articaine + triamcinolone

Articaine + triamcinolone is a combination drug regimen consisting of the amide local anesthetic articaine and the synthetic corticosteroid triamcinolone (administered as triamcinolone acetonide). It is being investigated by Irkutsk State Medical University for the treatment of refractory pudendal neuralgia. The combination is administered as a single ultrasound-guided transperineal pudendal nerve block. Articaine acts by reversibly binding to and blocking voltage-gated sodium channels, thereby inhibiting sodium influx and preventing nerve impulse conduction to provide local anesthesia. Triamcinolone acetonide acts as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist, reducing perineural inflammation and edema. This synergistic combination aims to provide both immediate pain relief and long-term reduction of inflammatory pain in patients with pudendal neuralgia who are refractory to conservative therapy.
