Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Articure is a fixed-dose combination intramuscular injection containing diclofenac sodium (75 mg) and lidocaine hydrochloride (20 mg), developed by Global Pharmaceuticals. It is indicated for the short-term management of acute moderate to severe pain and inflammatory conditions, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, acute gout, low back pain, and postoperative pain. Diclofenac sodium is a potent nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces pain and swelling by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes and subsequent prostaglandin synthesis. Lidocaine hydrochloride is a local anesthetic that blocks voltage-gated sodium channels to prevent nerve depolarization and action potential propagation, which specifically helps to alleviate injection-site discomfort associated with intramuscular diclofenac administration.
