artificial bear bile capsule

Artificial bear bile capsule is a pharmaceutical product developed as a synthetic alternative to natural bear bile (Xiongdan), which is traditionally used in Chinese medicine for its heat-clearing and detoxifying properties. Developed by the Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (IMM CAMS) in collaboration with Zhongshan Anshi Pharmaceutical, this formulation is designed to mimic the chemical composition and therapeutic efficacy of natural bear bile. It typically contains key bile acids such as ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) and chenodeoxycholic acid (CDCA), or their taurine conjugates. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials for the treatment of acute pharyngitis, specifically targeting patients with the "liver and stomach constrained heat" pattern in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
