Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Artischocke Verdauungshilfe plus is an oral dietary supplement developed and marketed by MCM Klosterfrau. It is formulated as a fixed-dose combination of artichoke leaf extract (Cynara scolymus) and choline (as choline tartrate) to support liver and gallbladder function, facilitate the digestion of dietary fats, and maintain normal lipid metabolism. Artichoke leaf extract contains active bitter substances, such as cynaropicrin and cynarin, which stimulate bitter taste receptors (including TAS2R46) to trigger the secretion of bile acids from the liver and gallbladder into the intestine, thereby aiding fat emulsification. Choline serves as an essential precursor for phosphatidylcholine synthesis, which is critical for the assembly and secretion of very-low-density lipoproteins (VLDLs) to export triglycerides from hepatocytes, preventing hepatic fat accumulation. The product is marketed in tablet form for adults experiencing digestive discomfort, bloating, or requiring hepatobiliary support.
