Overview

Arumakimig (MAS825) is a dual-acting monoclonal antibody developed by Novartis that simultaneously targets and neutralizes interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and interleukin-18 (IL-18). By inhibiting these two key pro-inflammatory cytokines, arumakimig aims to suppress the systemic autoinflammatory signaling pathways that drive various diseases. It is currently under clinical investigation primarily for the treatment of VEXAS (Vacuoles, E1 Enzyme, X-linked, Autoinflammatory, Somatic) syndrome, a rare and severe autoinflammatory condition characterized by systemic inflammation and hematologic abnormalities. The drug has also been explored in other inflammatory contexts, including COVID-19-related pneumonia.
