ARVAC-CG is a recombinant protein-based vaccine developed as a heterologous booster against SARS-CoV-2, specifically targeting the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the spike protein from the Gamma variant. It is adjuvanted with aluminum hydroxide to enhance immunogenicity. The vaccine was designed in response to emerging immune escape variants and waning immunity from previous COVID-19 vaccines. Clinical studies have shown that ARVAC-CG induces robust neutralizing antibody responses against multiple SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern—including Ancestral, Gamma, Delta, Omicron BA.1 and BA.5—and enhances T cell immunity in individuals previously vaccinated with other COVID-19 platforms[6][8]. The vaccine has demonstrated a favorable safety and tolerability profile in phase 1 trials[6][8]. Developed by Laboratorio Pablo Cassara S.R.L., it is the first locally produced COVID-19 vaccine approved for use in Argentina[9].
