Overview

Arvidal is a peptide-based, host-directed antiviral and immunomodulatory drug developed by PVP Labs for the prevention and treatment of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), including influenza and coronavirus infections. Formulated as a 0.2% topical spray or inhalation solution, Arvidal functions by suppressing the hypersecretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1 (IL-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α). This mechanism helps prevent cytokine storms and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Additionally, the drug stimulates endogenous interferon production, activates macrophages to enhance local immunity, and promotes the repair of the respiratory epithelium. Preclinical studies have demonstrated significant antiviral activity against influenza (IC50 = 0.8 μg/mL) and adenovirus.
