Overview

ARX201 is a long-acting, recombinant human growth hormone (hGH) analogue developed using Ambrx's proprietary ReCODE technology. This technology enables site-specific mono-PEGylation of the hGH molecule by incorporating a chemically unique amino acid, resulting in improved pharmacokinetic properties and allowing for less frequent dosing compared to conventional hGH therapies. ARX201 acts as an agonist at the growth hormone receptor (GHR), stimulating production of insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) and supporting normal metabolic and anabolic functions. The drug was co-developed by Ambrx and Merck Serono for the treatment of adult growth hormone deficiency (AGHD), with clinical trials demonstrating normalization of IGF-I levels with weekly injections and an acceptable safety profile[1][2][5][7].
