Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AS-00491 is an experimental, small-molecule inhibitor of the anti-apoptotic protein myeloid cell leukemia 1 (MCL-1), being developed by Ascentage Pharma as an apoptosis-stimulating anticancer agent. By binding with high affinity to MCL-1 and disrupting its interaction with pro-apoptotic BCL-2 family proteins, AS-00491 is designed to restore mitochondrial apoptosis in MCL-1–dependent tumor cells, with a development focus on hematologic malignancies and solid tumors that rely on MCL-1 for survival.[6][7]
