Overview

AS1986NS is an investigational drug developed for the detection and treatment of prostate cancer. It is a novel agent that targets prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) on cancer cells, combining a fluorescent marker with lutetium-175, a radioactive isotope. This dual-modality design enables both intraoperative fluorescence imaging to delineate tumor margins during surgery and radiolabeling for PET imaging to identify cancerous tissue more precisely. The drug aims to improve surgical precision and patient outcomes by allowing surgeons to better distinguish between malignant and healthy tissue. AS1986NS is currently in phase 1/2 clinical trials following FDA approval of its Investigational New Drug (IND) application.
