AS25-adjuvanted influenza vaccine

AS25-adjuvanted influenza vaccine (GSK576389A) is an adjuvanted, inactivated split-virion influenza vaccine developed by GSK Biologicals. It is specifically designed to enhance immunogenicity in elderly populations (aged 65 years and older) for the prevention of seasonal influenza. The vaccine incorporates GSK's proprietary AS25 adjuvant system to stimulate a more robust immune response compared to non-adjuvanted formulations. Clinical evaluation has included Phase II and Phase III trials, where it was studied in both thiomersal-free and thiomersal-reduced formulations, comparing haemagglutination-inhibition geometric mean titers to assess non-inferiority and efficacy.
