Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ASAP CC is an oral, small-molecule fixed-dose combination tablet developed by Anglo-French Drugs & Industries for the symptomatic relief of the common cold, cough, flu, and associated allergic symptoms. It contains three active pharmaceutical ingredients: chlorpheniramine maleate (an antihistamine), dextromethorphan hydrobromide (a cough suppressant), and phenylephrine hydrochloride (a nasal decongestant). Chlorpheniramine acts as an antagonist at the histamine H1 receptor to alleviate sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes. Dextromethorphan suppresses the cough reflex by acting as an agonist at the sigma-1 receptor and an antagonist at NMDA receptors in the central nervous system. Phenylephrine acts as an agonist at alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, causing vasoconstriction in the nasal mucosa to relieve nasal congestion.
