asarone

Asarone is a phenylpropanoid compound naturally occurring in plants of the *Acorus* genus, such as *Acorus tatarinowii*. It exists primarily as two isomers, alpha-asarone and beta-asarone, with alpha-asarone being widely studied for its pharmacological effects on the central nervous system. The drug is being developed as a neuroprotective agent for the treatment of ischemic stroke, where it is thought to exert its effects by modulating GABAergic neurotransmission, inhibiting neuroinflammation, and reducing oxidative stress. Chengdu Xinrui Taikang Technology is currently evaluating TK-03, an injectable emulsion formulation of asarone, in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers and potentially stroke patients.
