Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ANX-042 (asbnp.1) is a synthetic, alternatively spliced 42-amino acid variant of B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP), developed to enhance renal function without causing significant hypotension[3][6]. It was designed based on a unique transcript found in failing human hearts and demonstrates the ability to stimulate cyclic GMP production in glomerular and mesangial cells, leading to increased glomerular filtration rate (GFR), natriuresis, diuresis, and suppression of plasma renin and angiotensin II—without notable vasodilatory effects or blood pressure reduction[6]. The drug has been investigated for its potential use in cardiorenal syndrome, heart failure with kidney dysfunction, and related cardiovascular/renal disorders[2][5]. Development originated at Mayo Clinic with Anexon as a licensee/developer[3][5].
