Overview

ASC-101 is a proprietary cell-surface engineering platform and therapeutic reagent developed by America Stem Cell, Inc. (ASC). It consists of a recombinant human alpha-1,3-fucosyltransferase VI (FTVI) enzyme designed to enhance the homing and engraftment capabilities of various stem cell populations, including hematopoietic, neural, and amniotic fluid-derived stem cells. The technology works by enzymatically adding fucose moieties to cell-surface scaffolds ex vivo, thereby increasing the expression of E-selectin ligands such as Sialyl Lewis X (sLeX). This modification allows the administered cells to more effectively tether to and roll on E-selectin expressed on the vascular endothelium at sites of inflammation or tissue injury. ASC-101 has been explored in preclinical models for the treatment of multiple sclerosis, compartment syndrome, and other musculoskeletal injuries to improve the localized delivery and therapeutic impact of cell-based therapies.
