Overview

The ASC Program is a discovery-stage therapeutic initiative by Latigo Biotherapeutics focused on the development of small molecule inhibitors targeting acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs) for non-opioid pain management. ASICs are proton-gated ion channels expressed in the peripheral nervous system that serve as key sensors for extracellular acidosis, a condition frequently associated with inflammation, tissue injury, and ischemia. By modulating these channels, the program aims to block pain signaling at its peripheral source before it reaches the central nervous system. This approach is part of Latigo's broader strategy to develop potent and selective non-opioid analgesics that avoid the side effects and addiction risks associated with traditional pain medications.
