Overview

ASC10 is an oral double prodrug antiviral developed by Ascletis Pharma. After administration, it is rapidly and completely converted in vivo into the active metabolite ASC10-A (also known as β-D-N4-hydroxycytidine or NHC, EIDD-1931). This active metabolite acts as a ribonucleoside analog and inhibits RNA-directed RNA polymerase (RdRp), thereby blocking viral replication. Preclinical studies have shown that ASC10-A has broad-spectrum antiviral activity against viruses such as monkeypox virus, SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and influenza. Clinical trials have demonstrated that ASC10 is safe and well tolerated in healthy subjects. The drug is currently being investigated for multiple viral infections including RSV infection (Phase 2), monkeypox (Phase 1), COVID-19 (Phase 1), and influenza (IND approval)[1][2][3][4][5][6].
