Overview

ASC11 is an oral small molecule drug candidate developed in-house by Ascletis Pharma. It acts as a direct-acting antiviral agent targeting the 3-chymotrypsin like protease (3CLpro) of SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19. The drug was discovered using proprietary technologies including molecular docking and has demonstrated significantly higher potency against SARS-CoV-2—including Omicron variants—compared to other 3CLpro inhibitors such as Nirmatrelvir, S-217622, PBI-0451, and EDP-235. In preclinical studies and animal models, ASC11 showed robust antiviral activity. Clinical development includes Phase I trials to determine safety and optimal dosing, with plans for further pivotal trials in COVID-19 patients. ASC11 may be administered alone or boosted with ritonavir[1][2][4][5][6].
