Overview

ASC46 is a small molecule inhibitor of fatty acid synthase (FASN) being developed by Ascletis Pharmaceuticals for cardiopulmonary protection. FASN is a multi-enzyme protein that catalyzes the de novo synthesis of long-chain fatty acids from acetyl-CoA and malonyl-CoA. By inhibiting FASN, ASC46 aims to modulate lipid metabolism and potentially reduce lipid-mediated inflammation and fibrosis in heart and lung tissues. This candidate is part of Ascletis's broader FASN platform, which includes other inhibitors like denifanstat (ASC40), but ASC46 is specifically positioned for cardiopulmonary indications. Notably, the code name ASC46 is also used by the same developer for a separate peptide-based Amylin receptor agonist program for obesity.
