Overview

Ascorbate-meglumine is an investigational small molecule formulation being developed by LadeRx LLC as an MRI-guided adjunctive therapeutic for patients with brain metastases undergoing stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). The drug is a parenteral solution containing ascorbate (vitamin C) and meglumine (N-methyl-D-glucamine). It serves a dual purpose: acting as an MRI contrast agent to assist in treatment planning and as a potential therapeutic agent that leverages the pro-oxidant effects of high-dose intravenous ascorbate. Pharmacological concentrations of ascorbate are hypothesized to generate reactive oxygen species, leading to selective toxicity in cancer cells and potentially enhancing the efficacy of radiation therapy. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 dose-escalation safety study to determine its safety profile and optimal dosing.
