Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Carowin Gold is an oral combination therapy containing ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), L-glutathione, and tranexamic acid. It is primarily used to manage skin pigmentation disorders, including melasma, hyperpigmentation, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). The combination works synergistically to reduce melanin synthesis and brighten skin tone. Tranexamic acid acts as an antifibrinolytic agent that inhibits plasminogen activation, thereby reducing the inflammatory mediators that stimulate melanogenesis. L-glutathione and ascorbic acid function as potent antioxidants that directly and indirectly inhibit the tyrosinase enzyme, the rate-limiting enzyme in melanin production, while also shifting melanin synthesis from dark eumelanin to lighter pheomelanin.
