Overview
ascorbic acid + yin qiao san is a combination therapeutic consisting of the antioxidant ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) and the classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula Yin Qiao San (Lonicera and Forsythia Powder). Yin Qiao San is primarily composed of *Lonicera japonica* (honeysuckle) and *Forsythia suspensa*, which are traditionally used to treat "wind-heat" type common colds and upper respiratory infections. The formula is believed to exert antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and broad-spectrum antiviral effects. Ascorbic acid is added to enhance the immune response and provide antioxidant protection against oxidative stress during infection. This combination is a core component of several widely used over-the-counter cold medications in East Asia, most notably "Wei C Yin Qiao" tablets, although the latter often includes additional synthetic ingredients like paracetamol and chlorpheniramine.
