Ascorbyl glucoside

Ascorbyl glucoside is a stable analog of vitamin C, naturally found in the fruit of *Lycium barbarum L.*. It exhibits antioxidant properties and has demonstrated cytotoxic and antiproliferative effects against cancer cells, specifically HeLa cells, in vitro. Its mechanism of action in cancer cells involves inducing apoptosis and cell cycle arrest, primarily by stabilizing the p53 protein. It also mediates antitumor activity by downregulating proteins involved in cell apoptosis and proliferation. Ascorbyl glucoside is being investigated for its role in mediating microbiome rebalance and reducing dandruff when formulated in topical lotions.
