Ascrinvacumab is a fully human IgG2 monoclonal antibody that targets activin receptor-like kinase 1 (ALK-1, also known as ACVRL1), a receptor involved in the TGF-beta signaling pathway. By binding to and neutralizing ALK-1, ascrinvacumab disrupts tumor endothelial cell function and inhibits angiogenesis, which can lead to reduced tumor growth and proliferation. It has been investigated primarily for the treatment of various cancers, including hepatocellular carcinoma, advanced solid tumors, malignant pleural mesothelioma, colorectal cancer, urogenital cancer, and age-related macular degeneration. The drug was originally developed by Pfizer and later by Suzhou Kintor Pharmaceuticals in collaboration with Duke University Medical Center and Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori[1][2][3][4][5].
