ASCT-1003 is an investigational cell therapy developed by Alcamena Stem Cell Therapeutics. It is designed to function as an antagonist of the RE1-Silencing Transcription factor (REST), a protein that suppresses the expression of neuronal genes and is implicated in the progression of neurodegenerative diseases and various cancers. The therapy utilizes the β-TrCP (Beta-transducin repeat-containing protein) pathway to mediate its antagonistic effect on REST. ASCT-1003 is currently in the discovery and preclinical stages for indications including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, dementia, colon cancer, and breast cancer.
