Overview

ASCT-1124 is a topical peptide therapeutic being developed by Alcamena Stem Cell Therapeutics for the treatment and prevention of keloid and hypertrophic scars, as well as inflammatory skin diseases. The drug functions as an interleukin-6 (IL-6) antagonist, targeting a key inflammatory mediator involved in excessive scar formation and skin inflammation. ASCT-1124 is part of Alcamena's 'Supernatural Peptides' pipeline, developed using a proprietary directed evolution platform to deliver biologic-level potency directly to the disease site while avoiding systemic toxicity. In preclinical studies, ASCT-1124 demonstrated dose-dependent inhibition of keratinocyte proliferation induced by IL-6. In a humanized imiquimod (IMQ) mouse model, it showed a 40% reduction in skin thickness, a 60% reduction in serum IL-6, and a 75% reduction in serum IFN-γ. The drug is currently in the IND-enabling stage of development.
