Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Asmatus is a traditional herbal mixture (often referred to as ASMATUSTM) composed of seven plant extracts: *Matricaria chamomilla* (Chamomile), *Althaea officinalis* (Marshmallow), *Malva sylvestris* (Mallow), *Hyssopus officinalis* (Hyssop), *Adiantum capillus-veneris* (Maidenhair fern), *Glycyrrhiza glabra* (Licorice), and *Ziziphus jujube* (Jujube). It is primarily investigated for its ability to manage asthma symptoms in children, particularly during viral respiratory tract infections. Clinical evidence suggests that a short course of Asmatus can significantly reduce the severity of cough and the frequency of nighttime awakenings. The therapeutic effect is attributed to the synergistic anti-inflammatory, antitussive, and bronchodilatory properties of its herbal constituents.
