Overview

ASN-1324 is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of the voltage-gated sodium channel Nav1.7 (encoded by the SCN9A gene), developed by Asana BioSciences. Nav1.7 is highly expressed in peripheral sensory neurons and plays a critical role in the transmission of pain and itch signals. By selectively blocking Nav1.7, ASN-1324 aims to provide therapeutic relief for conditions such as chronic pain and pruritus (itch) without the central nervous system side effects associated with non-selective sodium channel blockers or opioids. The compound has demonstrated efficacy in preclinical models of inflammatory and neuropathic pain, and its development has progressed under the clinical designation ASN008, particularly for dermatological pruritus.
