Overview

ASP0739 is an investigational cell therapy developed by Astellas Pharma. It consists of artificial adjuvant vector cells (aAVCs) engineered to express the tumor-associated antigen NY-ESO-1, a cancer-testis antigen frequently found in various solid tumors. The drug was designed to stimulate an immune response against NY-ESO-1-expressing tumor cells. Clinical development included evaluation as a single agent and in combination with pembrolizumab (an anti-PD-1 antibody) for patients with advanced solid tumors known to express NY-ESO-1, including ovarian cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, melanoma, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, synovial sarcoma, and myxoid/round cell liposarcoma[2][3][4][5][7]. The primary route of administration was intravenous infusion[8]. Development has been discontinued after Phase 2 trials.
