Overview

ASP1941 + glimepiride is an oral fixed-dose combination of two antidiabetic agents: henagliflozin (also known as ASP1941), a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, and glimepiride, a sulfonylurea. Henagliflozin lowers blood glucose by inhibiting SGLT2 in the proximal renal tubules, thereby reducing glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion. Glimepiride stimulates insulin release from pancreatic beta cells by inhibiting ATP-sensitive potassium channels. This combination targets both insulin resistance and impaired insulin secretion for improved glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus[1][2].
