Overview

ASP7147 is an orally available small molecule drug that acts as a bombesin BB2 receptor (also known as gastrin-releasing peptide receptor, GRPR) antagonist. It was originally developed by Astellas Pharma and later transferred to Seldar Pharma for further development and commercialization. The primary indication for ASP7147 is the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, particularly the diarrhea-predominant subtype (IBS-D). Its mechanism of action involves antagonism of the bombesin BB2/GRP receptor, which is implicated in gastrointestinal motility and visceral sensitivity. As of the latest updates, ASP7147 has reached Phase 2 clinical trials for irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea[1][2][3][4][5].
