Overview

ASP7517 is an investigational cell therapy developed by Astellas Pharma in collaboration with RIKEN. It was designed as a cancer immunotherapy for the treatment of relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML), higher-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), and solid tumors. The therapy utilizes allogeneic artificial adjuvant vector cells (aAVC) loaded with glycolipids and full-length cancer antigens to activate both innate immunity via natural killer T cells and adaptive immunity via antigen-specific T cells. This dual activation aims to induce robust anti-tumor responses, including long-lasting effects through memory T cell induction. The mechanism of action involves cell replacement and immunologic cytotoxicity, targeting Wilms tumor protein 1 (WT1) as a key antigen.
