Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Asparagus officinalis extract, particularly the standardized Enzyme-Treated Asparagus Stem (ETAS) extract, is a functional food and nutraceutical developed by Amino Up. It is produced through the hot water extraction of asparagus stems followed by enzymatic treatment with cellulase and hemicellulase. The extract is rich in bioactive compounds such as steroidal saponins, flavonoids, and phytoecdysteroids like 20-hydroxyecdysone. ETAS is primarily utilized for its stress-relieving and neuroprotective properties, which are attributed to its ability to induce heat shock protein 70 (HSP70). Clinical and preclinical studies have also explored its efficacy in improving sleep quality, enhancing cognitive function, and potentially treating various cancers, including multiple myeloma and gynecological malignancies, by modulating the PI3K/AKT/mTOR and NF-κB signaling pathways.
